Free VCT Training for Advisers From The AIC
The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) is running three VCT seminars in London, Tewkesbury and Edinburgh over the coming weeks. The seminars aim to help financial advisers and wealth managers refresh their knowledge of the VCT scheme, and keep up to date with recent HMRC changes (for dates and booking details, see below).
Led by the AIC's Head of Training Nick Britton, each morning seminar will also feature presentations from two prominent VCT managers. Guest speakers include Dr Paul Jourdan of the Amati VCTs, Eliot Kaye of the Puma VCTs, Harry Thomas of the ProVen VCTs, James Livingston of the Foresight VCTs, and Michael Probin of the Baronsmead VCTs.
Topics to be covered include how to research and analyse VCTs, the latest HMRC rule changes and the role of VCTs as a supplement to pensions.
Nick Britton, Head of Training, AIC, said, "VCTs have produced good returns for investors over the long term with many offering a healthy income stream, while helping hundreds of UK businesses to grow. They can also be an important tax planning tool, especially given the ongoing squeeze on pension contribution limits.
"These seminars will help advisers and wealth managers keep their knowledge of the VCT scheme up to date, including recent HMRC rule changes. Each will include a refresher on the basics as well as a look at the various ways VCT managers seek to balance risk and reward in their portfolios."
