Amati VCT Portfolio Showcase

On Friday 3rd October 2014 the Spa Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells played host to the latest Amati VCT Portfolio Showcase. Nearly 50 people listened to a series of presentations from the Amati managers and representatives of three VCT portfolio companies.

After hearing about the structure and choices of VCT schemes, fund manager Douglas Lawson followed with an outline of the approaches used to decide if a company merits inclusion into the portfolio and the "red flags" which decide otherwise.

Stephen Moon, the CEO of Science in Sport, and Director of Product Development Luke Heeney then entertained the guests with a demonstration of how nutrition plays a key role in the performance of athletes during exercise and why their products are in such high demand across the sports spectrum.

On a similar theme, sports and marketing agency TLA Worldwide CEO, Michael Principe, and his COO Dwight Mighty provided a fascinating insight into the business of promotion and agency work for baseball players and other sports athletes requiring representation.

Before Amati CEO Paul Jourdan brought the day to a close, we heard about the tremendous growth of Sprue Aegis and their world-class product range of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Group finance director John Gahan and Managing Director Nicholas Rutter explained why their highly scaleable business had achieved a 5th successive year in the Sunday Times FastTrack 100 and their committment to consumer safety.
